It's Week 4, already--can you believe it?!

Another sunny Sunday afternoon on the gridiron and boy, was it exciting!  The afternoon began with the Coors Exteriors team coming out rough and ready in what wound up to be a defensive showdown!  With only about 40 seconds to go in regulation it was tied up zero to zero!  Unfortunately for our KLG team the opponent made a great pass to run one down to the endzone and Coors lost 0-6.  Well fought, little men, well fought.

Extra kudos go out to our fabulous KLG Cheering Squad who kept the crowd into it throughout the game.  It is as much fun to watch these girls building their skills on the sidelines as witnessing the boys developing on the field.  Keep it up, cheerleaders!

The second game of the afternoon pitted our KLG The Athlete team against a BIG team from Delphi.  This contest, too, would prove to be a defensive shoot-out!  Awesome plays were happening all over the field including impressive runs by Matt Vawter & Sean Gordon.  The final score turned out to be a ditto of game one and The Athlete lost 0-6.

To wrap up the afternoon activity, KLG's Dock 5 team faced another over-sized group from Delphi.  But as the play progressed it proved that success on the field isn't always dependent on size:  our Dock 5 team showed agility, toughness and speed!  The defense came through when it really needed to (nice hit Mr. Olvera-Rowland! among many others) and kept the ball in the hands of the offense for much of the game.  When given the pigskin, the offense showed they knew what to do with it and marched their way to the endzone!  With Cade Renicker crossing the goalline twice and Hayden Kuxhausen also making his way pass the marker, this one was all KLG!  Lots of credit goes to the O-line who came out with some great blocks (want to know how to block with gusto?  Watch Alex Spector!).   All in all, this terrific team effort resulted in a 22-0 win for Dock 5!  Congrats, dudes!

OK, occasionally something strange happens--how'd that ball wind up out there?!

With three games left to go in the season, Klondike teams have proven themselves a force to be reckoned with!  Keep it up, KLG!

Week 3

Well, it was a tough weekend for our Klondike Little Gridiron teams, all of whom wound up on the short end of the score in the end.  Nevertheless, there was a lot of wonderful action going on out on the field.

Welcome to Week 2

The rain was falling, the wind was blowing, but KLG Football played on!  That's right, despite rather adverse weather conditions, the mighty men of KLG football took the field on Sunday afternoon and played tough.

The first game of the day pitted the Coors Exteriors team against Battle Ground.  Our Coors guys fought hard, but came out on the short end of a 0-28 score in the end.

Game #3 of the day saw our boys representing The Athlete facing down a tough opponent from Benton Central (and let me tell you, they grow 'em big up in BC territory) .  Some days things just don't go your way...and this seemed to be the case for The Athlete team this week.  Despite a big score in the endzone, they couldn't hold on to the ball (who could blame them in the pouring rain) and BC capitalized on the turnovers.  Final score:  6-40.

The final showdown of the day had the KLG Dock 5 team playing the older boys from Battle Ground.  What a match-up it was!  Both teams played extremely well, but the boys from KLG managed to get one in the endzone and make some incredible defensive stances to gain possession of the ball and hold the BG team scoreless.  In the end, KLG triumphed 8-0! That's a 2-0 start for the Dock 5 boys!!

Here's a little sample of the wet, but exciting action on Sunday:
